During World War II, the U.S. Airborne units played a key part in some of the most important battles the U.S. Army fought in Europe. Famous units such as the 13th, 17th, 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions made a name for themselves in combat in many different areas, including France on and after D-Day, Bastogne and Holland, to name a few. In the Pacific, the 11th Airborne Division carried out the brunt of the airborne operations.
Our Collection
The Michigan Traveling Military Museum is pleased to have and display a nice collection of original U.S. World War II Airborne items, including many named U.S. Airborne groupings, original insignia, dress uniforms, jump jackets with pants, medals, patches and more. It is a fitting tribute to the brave men involved in some of the fiercest fighting seen during the war.
